Board Rules
These rules apply to all areas of the board, unless otherwise noted.

1. Don't ever ask us to make you an administrator or moderator. Those positions must be earned by merit and merit alone, so don't think that by sucking up you'll get promoted, either. By asking to be staff, both directly or indirectly through sucking up, you WILL receive a warn level raise. It's good to help your fellow members, but helping and trying to do a mod's job are two different things. Don't attempt to do the staff members' jobs for them, either. you can help, but don't tell other people, especially the staff, what to do or try to enforce the rules. Multiple occasions will become a warn.

2. You are allowed one account only. We WILL know, so don't try getting it past us. This is understandable if you have a sibling, or if there is some other circumstance that involves two different people joining this site and using the same computer. But before someone else registers with your computer, PM an administrator and notify them of this and explain the situation. If you don't do this, the second account will never be validated and you yourself will receive a warning for every time you register another account. However, if someone else joins using your computer, they must join the same team as you, or at least one that is allied with your team.

3. Do not flame anyone. This forum is here for everyone to have fun, and we can't do that if you're picking on someone, now can we? >:O This also includes threatening anyone in any way, including threatening to hack or send viruses. Such behavior will not be tolerated.

4.If you are angry with someone for whatever reason, PM AN MOD OR ADMIN, IN THAT ORDER. You WON'T be warned for explaining how you feel to staff in private, as opposed to yelling AWRARWRAWR and getting a warn. However, if you are irritated with a mod, then go straight to an Admin. We're here to do many things, but not to referee flamewars.

5. Spamming is not allowed anywhere except for Spamfest. For example, don't go into a thread about Pokemon Diamond yelling about how much you hate Power Rangers. Stay on subject, please.

6. Double posting is posting twice in a row without anyone else posting inbetween, and it is not allowed here, with a few minor exceptions. These are as follows:
A. Spamfest. You can do anything in spamfest, including double post.
B. Roleplays and apartments can be double posted in, but only if your post was too long to be posted in one post, or if you need to continue where you left off and no one else has posted, though the edit button is there for a reason.
C. In the art/fanfiction forums, the creator can double post to display new work.
D. If your computer lags or there is a server hiccup and you accidentally post the same thing twice, we'll understand, that's not your fault. But please make a habit of only pressing the reply button once, it WILL go through if you give it time.

7. Bumping is when you post in a topic more than 1 month after the last post in that topic, and it is something else that is allowable only in certain circumstances, which are as follows.
A. In spamfest.
B. Pinned threads never die, so they can be bumped at any time.
C. Art/fanfic threads may be bumped by the topic creator, as there's no need to remake the thread.
D. Apartments can be bumped by anyone, as they are intended to be permanent.
E. Roleplay threads can be bumped only if the roleplay has been put on hold by the people already in it and they are continuing.

8. You are free to express your opinions here, but you are NOT allowed to hurt others with them, and you are not allowed to express racially, sexually, religiously, or otherwise hurtful discriminatory opinions. We're all people, and we all have feelings, and that is all that matters here.

9. Don't overuse the smilies. If you do, your post loses all meaning and you'll probably be labeled as a blatant n00b. An example of this? "LYKEOMGCANIHAVEAFREESHINYEEVEEWITHWINGSTHATLOOKSLIKEARCESBTISNTANDCNTYKEOVRDAWORLD?! :D :D :D :D :D :D XD XD XD :) ;) D: D: D: :( :( :( :< :< :< :< XO XO XO XO XO :O :O :O FFFFFVFFFFFFF"
^NO ONE WANTS TO LOOK AT THAT.

10. Please do the following things before you post a new topic:
A. Check to make sure there is not another active topic (meaning the last reply was less than a month ago) for the same thing.
B. Ask yourself if this new topic will be of interest to anyone else.
C. Make sure you put it in the right forum.

11. Keep any thing you post PG rated. This means:
-No porn
-No hentai
-No inappropriate pictures or RPs
ANYWHERE on the board. The one, sole exception to this if it's in spoilers, and even then if it's really bad you still run the risk of a warning. We're Rpers, not wild sex maniacs or porn lovers. If you really must share it with others, then take it to PM or whatever. However, if we receive an angry PM from the person you sent it to, expect a warning or two.

12. In Spamfest, Rules 1, 2, 3, 8, 11 and 14 still apply. It is NOT a lawless wasteland, so don't think you can get away with anything.

13. Do not take others' artwork or pictures and claim them as your own. If you want to use them, obtain permission and give credit.

14. Advertise only in the advertisements forum and only when you meet the criteria listed. Advertising anywhere on the board or via PM will be met with a warn level raise.

15. Have fun, please. The only way we can have fun is if we know YOU'RE having fun. What's the point of going to internet forums if not to have fun?

RP Rules
These rules apply to all areas of the board that are in character.

1. No powerplaying (giving yourself too much power) or godmodding (trying to control someone else's character). Nobody's gonna like to RP with someone who tips the scales so far in their favor that it's impossible for them to win, nor will anyone like someone to force them to react in a way they normally wouldn't. There are some exceptions to this. For instance, some members will do a "boss" battle, for instance, where they enhance their powers using whatnot and becoming legendary pokemon or whatever. They then must post that there will be godmodding involved.

2. The more detailed you make your RP, the more likely it is to be accepted. Remember this and don't try to catch a Pokemon by posting half a paragraph.

3. Another reason to be detailed? The more you write, the more money you earn for an RP. For every line you post that takes up at least half the screen, you earn ¥1. If you battle someone, you can agree upon a specific sum of money before it starts, basically a bet, that whoever wins will take from the other. Otherwise you receive normal monetary earnings from this. In gym battles, you receive the same earnings, but you might receive a bonus if the gym leader supports this, however that is solely up to the gym leader.

4. So you know, you start out with ¥250 and if you join a team you also earn an additional ¥500.

5. Don't use chat abbreviations in your RPs unless it is in an OOC note, however it is best to save this for PMs if at all possible.

6. One character cannot be in two places at once. However, if you can handle keeping your topics in a timeline, you can RP in as many different time periods as you can handle.

7. This is a free-form RP, which means you write out the entire thing. You say exactly what happened when catching or training a Pokemon, and then you wait for an administrator or global moderator to approve or deny it.

8. Only PM an admin or g-mod if your RP topic has not been approved or denied within 24 hours of posting.

Pokemon Evolution Rules

1. To evolve, a Pokémon needs 3-4 battles.

2. To evolve a Happiness-based Pokémon such as Pichu, it needs 4-5 battles.

3. For Pokemon who evolve with just a stone in the games, no battles are required to evolve them, just use the stone and they evolve.

4. Pokemon that evolve through trading in the games are treated as Pokemon who evolve normally here, so for example, you'd need 3-4 battles to evolve an Abra to a Kadabra, and then 3-4 more to evolve it into an Alakazam. No actual trading is required.

5. Pokemon that evolve from holding an item and trading will evolve by holding the needed item and participating in the 3-4 battles needed for normal evolution.

6. Pokemon that evolve from holding an item and levelling up will evolve by holding the required item and participating in 1 battle.

7. Feebas evolves when you feed it an Egotist Plum, available in stores now.

8. Pokemon that evolve from being levelled up in a specific spot, such as Magneton evolving to Magnezone when levelled up in Mt. Coronet, can be evolved by levelling up in an equivalent area in the wild. Magneton would evolve when levelled up in the Old Coal Mines, Eevee would evolve to Leafia when levelled up in the Forest Meadow or Glacia when levelled up in the Ice Caverns, etc. There are also items available in the shop for some of these Pokemon.

9. Eevee can evolve into Umbreon or Espeon either through the happiness route of 4-5 battles or through giving it a Moon/Sun Shard.

10. Shedinja can be obtained if you have 5 or less Pokemon in your party when you evolve a Nincada to Ninjask. It can also be obtained in the wild, but you will have to use status conditions to capture it, due to Wonder Guard.

Pokemon Capture Rules

Simplified Capture Rules

1) Does it have any prevolutions? If no, it's catchable, always. (Charmander does not evolve from antyhing, Lapras does not evolve from anything.)

2) Does it have any evolutions? If yes, it's catchable, always. (Pikachu evolves into Raichu. Rhyhorn evolves into Rhydon.)

We run into problems when new pokemon are released, so again, we have these two guidelines:

1) Any Pokemon that used to be catchable will always be catchable. (Snorlax used to be catchable by rule 1, so it is still catchable. Jynx used to be catchable by rule one, it is still catchable. Hitmonlee and Hitmontop used to be catchable by rule one, they are still catchable. However. Hitmontop was never catchable, since it was released along with Tryouge, it was always final stage, and is not catchable.)

2) Any Pokemon that now qualifies by the original two guidelines is catchable. (Porygon2 now evolves into PorygonZ, so Porygon2 is now catchable. Togetic now evolves into Togekiss, so Togetic is now catchable.)

That's why Hitmontop is not catchable, but Snorlax, Jynx, and Porygon2 are catchable.

1. You may catch any pokemon that is a first-staged pokemon. (example, pidgey, charmander, etc.)

2. It is possible you may also catch any pokemon that is a second-staged, however, the battle must be more detailed and longer versus a first-staged pokemon being captured (examples include bayleef or metapod).

3. Baby pokemon are also catchable, as well as the pokemon they were pre-evolved from. (For example, the baby pokemon pichu is just as catchable as what it was the pre-evolution of, pikachu. Both of which are considered as first-staged pokemon)

4. You can NOT catch a final-staged pokemon legitimately, nor can you catch a pokemon evolved by stone, item or friendship. (final evolves like charizard or stone-evolutions such as flareon). You can, however, catch a pokemon to evolve them to. Final evolved pokemon do not include pokemon that have no evolutions, such as Lapras or Tropius. (You may encounter and battle final stage Pokémon, but they cannot be caught)

5. Special pokemon, such as shiny, dis-colored (being any color other than it's original color or their shiny counterparts), different-attributed pokemon (a pokemon with an attribute different from what it was intended to have, where it either overrides their original type or goes alongside it), or a pokemon with other features (such as taking the appearance of a certain character, a pokemorph, a pokemon with features not usually seen, such as wings on a poochyena or a zombified absol) can be obtained, however the more special the pokemon in question is, the more you must go out of your way in details and length of your post in order to obtain them, of course, they must also be within the boundaries of rules regardless of how special they are.

6. There are several forms of available legendaries.
A. The first would be your legendaries that are available from the hall of legends, which you receive as eggs. These hatch after 8 battles, all three hatching at the same time after 8 battles if the eggs are kept together. These will hatch as babies and mature into an adult legendary. However, these legendaries are only going to be as strong as, say, a third stage Pokemon such as Charizard or Dragonite, so having one of these is not an excuse to god-mod.
B. The second type of legendaries are legendaries that are owned by the teams, such as SkyDragon's Celebi and Rayquaza or BlueFire's Groudon and Kyogre. These legendaries are the true, all-powerful legendaries, but they are unobtainable to anyone but the leader of said team, and in certain cases, co-leaders. These are not to be used in battles against other trainers, unless it's for specific plot purposes. (They may be described, written about, and encountered in the wild, but like all RPs, this must be approved by a Moderator or Admin)
C. The final types of legendaries you will encounter are ones that are permanent babies. These have significantly less power then an adult legendary, and are unavailable for catching in the wild, but can be received from breeding adult legendaries, from promos, trading, etc.

Signature Rules
These rules apply to what you may put in your signature.

1. Your sig must not exceed 3,000 characters. This includes any html or bbcode you choose to use.

2. No videos in sigs. This makes a page take longer to load, especially for members with dial-up internet.

3. Your sig must not take up more than the entire computer screen. This means that if you have to scroll up or down to see your entire sig, it's too long.

4. You may not have any inappropriate material in your sig. This means no inappropriate pics, and nothing that could possibly be considered derogatory to any other member of this board.

5. If you break any of these rules, you risk having your entire signature devoured by an admin's rabid Pokemon. Consider yourself warned.

Warning System
This explains how the warning and suspension system works here.

1. The first time you break a rule, an admin will give you a verbal warning. Your warn level will not be raised.

2. The next time you break a rule, your warn level will be raised by 1. This will continue to happen until your warn level reaches 4. When this happens, you will either be suspended or banned, depending on your previous record.

3. The first time your warn level reaches 4, you'll be suspended for a week. Second time, two weeks. Third time, a month. And if you dare to continue being bad after this, you'll be permabanned AND IP banned, because by then, we'll be sick and tired of you.

4. Note that these warn level raises are under the judgment of the staff. If you do something that is considered really bad, we will use our own judgment in punishing you. Just because these guidelines are here, that doesn't protect you from an immediate suspension if the situation warrants it.

5. If you DO receive a warning for something, accept it and move on. If you start flaming people or arguing with admins, it's likely you'll get in even more trouble.

Credit to Riku and Miller for taking an entire day of their time to completely revamp these rules. Also credit to Storm for bringing up the idea of them needing to be clarified to begin with.

And then credit to Conner for looking through them when he was bored and adding a few he thought should be necessary

Further Credit goes to steef for simplifying the rules.
